Performances
Posted by on March 11, 2011I thought I would share some of the performances that were caught on camera at the festival. There were many great acts so forgive the amateur camera work and sound although I guess that adds to the theme of the event!
First out below we have the Dopamines with Soap and Lampshades. They are from Cincinnati and are signed by Paper and Plastick, they are more pop punk than hardcore punk but they do it so well. I’m a particular fan of their “The physical satisfaction of physical retraction from chemical attraction” tune, which deals with the chemical reaction our bodies have when we are in love, the natural high we get. I’m a fan and I think you will be too.
They really rocked the place and had a great turn out as you’ll see in the video, plenty of moshing going on. The sound on the video is awful but you certainly get a feel for the energy from these guys, no wonder they have got such a following.
Next up I’ll share a little of Dirty Tactics again the recording and sound are shaky but what the hell. These guys are a little more hardcore but we love them, certainly shades of some of the UK punk bands of the seventies here and I just love the guitar playing. The guys play out of Philly and are signed by Say 10 Records in the States and the excellent Flix Records in Europe.
I’ll finish off with Mikey Erg blasting out with rehasher, the crowd went crazy for Mike… but shit they always do. If you don’t know who Mikey is you need to smash yourself in the face three times right now. But in case you are a complete idiot I’ll give you a quick run down. Last time I checked Mikey was with Crafty Records and living somewhere in the mid west, obviously going for the quiet life now. He was part of the influential Ergs and is one of those unusual drummers who is actually lead vocals as well, some people have called the Ergs the most influential punk pop band of the last ten years and who am I to argue. He plays in numerous bands including the Dopamines above. Its a cliche but Mike has to be the hardest working guy is music so it’s only fitting we go out with him as well.
Hope you seek out some of these bands and get their music, keep the scene alive!
